Steam page update & first Steam update post

This week’s focus was on the Steam page update and first Steam update post. The page currently only features a handful of images and a video with the new photorealistic art style. I will be adding more varied images and videos as I add more content and models to the game. I also spent a good amount of time this week researching and purchasing a bunch of new assets from the unreal marketplace. This was a spontaneous shift of focus because there has been a massive sale in the marketplace I wanted to make use of. These purchases helped a lot with filling the gaps for models I would eventually need to purchase in order to cover all the different areas planned for the game. To actually be able to use these models I did familiarize myself with the workflow of porting Unreal Engine assets over to Unity. I plan on writing several systems to automate a lot of the repetitive work so getting those models actually implemented will hopefully not take too long. Finally I did work some more on the drawer mechanic and added the first items with photorealistic models to the game to test their interactions with drawers. This week was rather uneventful when it comes to progressing the game but those types of tasks are also part of game development on a regular basis.

Notable tasks this week:

  • Updated Steam page and posted first Steam update post
  • Researched and purchased a bunch of unreal marketplace assets
  • Researched workflow for porting assets from the Unreal Engine to Unity
  • Added a few photorealistic items and extended drawer mechanic
